Agricultural Initiatives: The Power of Economic System TransitionThe Oromia Regional State Government is making a revolution to move the region's agriculture out of the process of further improvement and into 'Fundamental Change' For the success of this goal, it has reached 33 agricultural initiatives which it started in 2012 as one. These initiatives are strategic tools to advance understanding, technology and new agricultural goals that will realize the transition of the economic system. Let us consider the main characteristics of the transitional force that make this special mission a focus in the implementation process:1 Strategic intervention:Our initiatives are based on thoughtful planning, clear focus lines, and strong implementation strategies and tactics. These measures, as well as solutions to the breakdown of the previous agricultural system, will serve as a proactive response to future obstacles. Moreover, the questions “where, what, how?” As is well known, in the past, our agricultural goals were strongly beyond “hand-to-mouth” and not beyond the local market. After this face-to-face handshake, our farmers are moving towards aiming for central and international market competitiveness through the expansion of our initiatives. This is not only about productivity, but also about the variety and quality of products. Knowledge Management and Adaptation of Technology:The main structural constraints of our agriculture are its dependence on traditional methods, rainfall, cattle sheds and manpower. These initiatives are becoming a major force in promoting and disseminating technologies, evidence, knowledge and scientific methods among farmers and ranchers as well as building comprehensive capacity. Our goal is not limited to time and space. Therefore, by vigorously implementing these stakeholders, the whole sector will quickly move from traditional to scientific methods.  Industrial Cancal and Systemic Zone:Our initiatives are not limited to increasing productivity. They are paying great attention to shifting the economic structure of agriculture to industry. As a result, we are succeeding in making our farmers not only producers, but also market evaluators and consumers of 'additional sona' This process will make the sector, including farmers, the basis of the economy. 4. Renewed Centralization: Rural-Urban Bridge:Our initiatives are creating a two-pronged linkage by bringing industry to production as we bring production to industry. The MNO is planning to establish Rural Development Centers (Haromee) in more than 7,300 villages in the region. 'Harome' is a bridge to move our rural areas into commercial and industrial centres. This will help us accelerate the transition from the 'hands-on' rural economy to market and industry. Resilience and Food Independence:These initiatives are above all the foundation of our independence. Food self-sufficiency, is the definition of Political Freedom. Our agriculture must be climate change resilient, sustainable and ensure the future of new generations. Empowering our people with food is a healthy generation on the one hand and ensuring the political independence of our people and country on the other. Finally, I would like to remind you that our initiatives are never considered as ordinary work. Accordingly, I would like to strongly urge our leadership, professionals and executives at the existing level to take it as a special mission and move forward with high nationalism for its success.
